uPVC vs Wooden Windows
Wood looks beautiful but can swell, warp and attract termites, and needs regular polishing. uPVC needs almost no upkeep and seals better; wood-finish uPVC (walnut, golden oak) gives the look of wood without the care.
The main differences
| uPVC | Wood | |
|---|---|---|
| Termites | Not affected | Can be attacked unless treated |
| Monsoon | Does not swell or warp | Can swell, jam or warp |
| Sealing | Gaskets on all sides | Gaps can open over time |
| Upkeep | Wipe clean | Polish or paint every few years |
| Looks | White, black or wood-finish | Natural wood grain |
Wood-finish uPVC
Walnut and golden oak laminated uPVC frames look like wood from a normal distance, but keep all the benefits of uPVC. Wood-finish frames start at ₹500/sq ft.
Our advice
Keep solid wood for the main door if you love it, and choose uPVC (white or wood-finish) for windows, where sealing and low upkeep matter most.
Frequently asked questions
Are uPVC windows cheaper than wooden windows?
Usually yes once you include polishing and repairs over the years. Good teak windows cost more to buy and to maintain.
